TITLE
Recommendation to approve the use of Sixth Council District Fiscal Year 2015 one-time infrastructure funds in the amount of $ $11,444.03 to fund the City of Long Beach cost that includes public safety for the 10th Annual Cambodian New Year Parade in the Sixth and Fourth Council District.

DISCUSSION
The first Long Beach Cambodian New Year Parade was held on April 24, 2005. The intention was to provide a free and inclusive event to the community collaborating with local leaders to unite members of the community by showcasing floats, dancers, musicians, as well as, cultural and traditional art. In its 10th year, this annual parade brings in between 7,000 to 10,000 visitors to the Midtown area of Long Beach. The cultural diversity in this community is a tremendous asset in terms of attracting a variety of people that attend the annual parade.

The yearly event is funded solely by contributions from businesses and private donors. However, this years' event fundraising was negatively impacted due to the controversy surrounding the invitation of H.E. Dr. Hun Manet to the parade. Now that Dr. Manet is not attending the parade, peace has been restored to the Cambodian community, yet the funds are lacking to host this important community cultural parade. There are many City cost associated with this event. The dollars allocated are to go toward these cost that include public safety. It is my desire to support this significant event to restore the unity and peace that it brings to Long Beach and the community as a whole.

FISCAL IMPACT
The amount of $11 ,444.03 is currently budgeted in the Capital Projects Fund (CP) in the Public Works Department (PW). City Council authorization is requested to approve the use of this funding from the Sixth Council District's FY 15 one-time infrastructure projects for the 2016 Cambodia New Yew Parade and reassign the intended use of this funding from the Sixth Council District's FY 15 one-time infrastructure projects to the Dep...
