TITLE
Recommendation to receive and file travel report for League of
California Cities and National League of Cities meetings between December 1, 2006 and December 7, 2006.

DISCUSSION
I would like to take this opportunity to file a travel report as required by AB 1234 for activities consistent with the definition of "official City Business" under the City Auditor's Travel and Reimbursement Policy for Non-AR Departments:

· Meetings with government and business leaders for the purpose of carrying out official City business;
· Non-partisan conferences, training and education trips, including visiting other governments to discuss and observe best practices;
· Travel in furtherance of an adopted policy, ordinance or City resolution.

My attendance at the following League of California Cities (LCC) and National League of Cities (NLC) meetings were authorized in the capacity of my membership on the Board of Directors for LCC Latino Caucus, membership in the LCC Environmental Quality Committee and membership in the NLC Human Development Committee and Hispanic Elected Local Official Board of Directors.

League of California Cities, 2006 Latino Summit
December 1 through December 2 - San Jose, CA

League of California Cities, Latino Caucus - Board of Directors Meeting
December 4 through December 5 - Sacramento, CA

National League of Cities, Congress of Cities and Exposition
December 5 through December 7 - Reno, NV

These conferences provided me with the opportunity to represent the City in a working dialogue that focused on collaboration and information sharing of key issues.
Topics discussed included impacts of the adoption of the state infrastructure bonds, which the City supported, and new legislation. Additionally, I attended Leadership Training Workshops that focused on Energy, Environment and Natural Resources.
