TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $300, offset by the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to the Friends of the Long Beach Public Library for their Celebrate Our Librarians event; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $300 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

The Long Beach Public Library Foundation and the Friends of the Long Beach Public Library are hosting the 2023 Celebrate Our Librarians event on August 18, 2023. The Long Beach Public Library would not be a nationally recognized institution making a difference in the lives of countless individuals through Long Beach without the hard work and creativity of the amazing librarians.

This matter has been reviewed by Budget Analyst Joe R. Guerrero on July 5, 2023.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

[Timing Considerations]

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to Friends of the Long Beach Public Library. The total appropriation increase of $300 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff time beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
