TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $3,000, offset by the First Council District One-Time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department, to provide a donation to the following:
1. Willmore City Heritage Association, in support of the 2023 SLAM
event, in the amount of $1000;
2. Uptown Jazz Festival, in the amount of $2,000; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $3,000 to offset transfers to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
The Willmore City Heritage Association is a strong and active organization in the First District. They are a vital source of community engagement in our City and their efforts help community spaces stay activated by community presence. The Season of Live Arts & Music (SLAM) will be a family friendly event for families and neighbors to enjoy. It is appropriate for City Council to approve a funds transfer to support these efforts.
The Uptown Jazz Festival is a culturally and artistically rich annual celebration that is free and open to the public. It is a community friendly event that activates our north Long Beach Houghton Park neighborhood with music and community presence in addition to attracting thousands of visitors each year. It is appropriate for City Council to support a funds transfer for the Uptown Jazz Festival.

This item requires urgency so as to allow a timely transfer of funds.
