TITLE
Recommendation to respectfully request City Manager to present a report on the last 5 years of contracts in the Department of Public Works to the City Council within 21 days, including, but not limited to the following data:
· Total number of public works contracts, including total dollar amounts annually
· Total number and percentage of minority-owned businesses receiving public works contracts
· Total number and percentage of women-owned businesses receiving public works contracts
· Total number and percentage of local businesses receiving public works contracts
· Any available data on local jobs created through public works contracts
· Any notable trends related to the procurement of contracts with local, minority, and women-owned businesses
DISCUSSION
This report is requested in order to better understand the successes and practices of contracting out in the context of local job creation and support of minority and women owned businesses.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact to the general fund.
