TITLE
Recommendation to adopt resolution setting apart and dedicating for public street purposes City-owned property located at 5400 Long Beach Boulevard. (District 9)
DISCUSSION
The Redevelopment Agency of the City of Long Beach is in the process of widening sidewalks and making various other improvements in the North Long Beach Project Area. A public parking lot was constructed at the northeast corner of Long Beach Boulevard and Market Street (commonly known as 5400 Long Beach Boulevard). The sidewalk along the south Market Street frontage was only 5 feet wide; this was widened to 10 feet wide at the time the parking lot was improved. The area to be dedicated is shown on the attached vicinity map.
The parking lot property was transferred to the City of Long Beach in March of 2011, and it is appropriate at this time to dedicate the additional street area needed for a wider sidewalk along Market Street by resolution of the City of Long Beach.
In conformance with the California Environmental Quality Act, Categorical Exemption No. CEP 10-093 was issued for this project.
This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Linda Trang on June 30, 2011 and by Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on July 13, 2011.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action on this matter is not time critical.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no General Fund or local job impact.
