TITLE
Recommendation to receive and file report on State Legislation Committee trip to Sacramento, January 24, 2011.

DISCUSSION
On January 24th, I traveled to Sacramento as a member of the State Legislation Committee.  During my stay there, I met with several members of our State Legislative Delegation to discuss issues at the State Level that are important to Long Beach, including Redevelopment, enterprise zones, the State Budget, and other issues relevant to the 2011 State Legislation agenda.

I, along with the other members of the committee, met with Senators Lowenthal and Wright, Assemblymembers Furantani, Lowenthal and Hall, State Treasurer Bill Lockyer, and Chris McKenzie of the California League of Cities.

A report on this thip was given by Committee Chair O'Donnell and received and filed by the State Legislation Committee on January 31.

SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

Councilmember Robert Garcia, First District
