TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager to execute agreements with the Law Offices of Michael M. Peters and Colantuono and Levin, Professional Corporation, pertaining to matters involving Civil Service Disciplinary Hearings.
DISCUSSION
The City Council is requeted to authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement with the Law Offices of Michael M. Peters for an amount not to exceed $250,000 per year, for a term of one year, plus two one-year extensions, and an agreement with Colantuono and Levin for an amount not to exceed $150,000 per year for a term of one year with two one-year extensions.
The City Attorney's Office is the elgal advisor to the Civil Service Commission, and therefore, may not simultaneously represent the City Manager in proceedings before the Commission. It is therefore necessary to retain outside counsel for the City Manager.
