TITLE
Recommendation to request City Manager to provide a report to City Council in 30 days with a comparison of the City's vacation, sick leave, holiday, personal holiday and executive leave benefits to a variety of Long Beach small, medium and large businesses.

DISCUSSION
The City of Long Beach offers employees various forms of paid time-off. The benefits include: Vacation, Sick Leave, Holiday, Personal Holiday, and Executive Leave. A breakdown of the allotted days is attached and based on an employee's years of service to the City.

In order to better understand the City's public sector leave time in relation to the private sector, it would be beneficial to review the common benefits side by side.
Working with local business organizations to gather the information may help to put the data into context.

I am requesting the City Manager report back to Council in 30 days with a summary of the City's paid leave in comparison to Long Beach small, medium and large business.

SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.
