TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager to amend Contract No. 30226 with Nuvis, Inc., to extend current landscape architectural services through August 31, 2012. No additional funds will be added to the existing contract. (Districts 7,8)

DISCUSSION
Nuvis, Inc., (Nuvis) was one of eight consultants awarded a contract by the City Council for as-needed landscape architectural services on December 19, 2006. Nuvis, under their original contract, began providing landscape architectural services for the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine on a number of projects, including the Baker Mini Park and the Rancho Los Cerritos Arroyo Restoration Project. However, due to timing and project constraints, these projects are still ongoing. In order to maintain project continuity, it is recommended that the contract with Nuvis be extended. The contract has sufficient funds available under the annual contract amount to complete both projects. Thus, no additional funds are being requested.

Nuvis is the designer of record for the proposed Baker Mini Park and the Rancho Los Cerritos Arroyo Restoration Project. Nuvis prepared the plans and specifications for the construction of Baker Mini Park, and will continue to provide support and construction services for the duration of the project. Additionally, Nuvis is providing responses to construction-related issues for the Rancho Los Cerritos Arroyo Restoration Project.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Gary J. Anderson on January 8, 2011, and Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on January 7, 2011.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action is requested on January 18, 2011, in order to continue working on these projects and to prevent further impact to the project schedules.

FISCAL IMPACT
Sufficient funds to support this activity are budgeted in the Capital ProjectsFund (CP) in the Department of Public Works (PW), and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PR). The funding source f...
