DISCUSSION
The Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network (Pacific Gateway) administers the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and other employment and training funds received annually by the City. These funds support job training programs and business services delivered by the Career Transition Center, Youth Opportunity Center, Torrance Career Center, Harbor WorkSource Center, and selected community-based organizations to assist local residents in acquiring skills leading to employment in high demand occupations with local employers.

The Network has completed the necessary procurement processes to select service providers for Fiscal Year (FY11) with an option for annual renewal in FY 2012 and FY 2013. The procurement process focused on organizations qualified and capable of providing youth services under the Workforce Investment Act provisions, and/or training entities on the State’s Eligibility Training Provider List that are in-demand. Services will be delivered onsite at Network facilities, at vendor facilities, and/or at other community-based locations to young adults and adult jobseekers.
