TITLE

Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay the sum of $335,000 in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Aichen Chen v. City of Long Beach, et al.

DISCUSSION

On May 28, 2009, plaintiff was involved in an automobile accident with a LBPD officer at the intersection of Los Coyotes Diagonal and Wardlow; plaintiff suffered severe personal injuries, and had substantial lost earnings.  After extensive discussion, a tentative settlement of $335,000 was reached.

The Economic Development and Finance Committee approved the proposed settlement on November 9, 2010.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.
