TITLE
Recommendation to request City Manager, or designee, to accept two easement deeds for additional sidewalk widths adjacent to bus stops at 602 East Anaheim Street and 5000 Long Beach Boulevard.  (Districts 6,8)

DISCUSSION
Long Beach Transit is preparing to improve 16 bus stops on our public sidewalks with new bus shelters and associated furnishings. The new, larger shelters proposed for 602 East Anaheim Street and 5000 Long Beach Boulevard cannot be accommodated within the existing 7.5 and 7.0 foot-wide sidewalks, respectively. Therefore, additional sidewalk easement areas are needed for the bus stops. The owners of the adjacent property have agreed to execute sidewalk easements in favor of the City for the additional widths needed, as shown on the attached Exhibits A, B and C.

In conformance with the California Environmental Quality Act, Categorical Exemption No. CEP 47-10 was issued for this project.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Linda Trang on September 29, 2010 and Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on November 9, 2010.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action on this matter is not time critical.

A document processing fee of $1,089 was paid by Long Beach Transit and deposited in the General Fund (GP) in the Department of Public Works (PW). There is no local job impact associated with the recommendation.
