TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay the sum of $40,000 in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Bruder v. City of Long Beach, et al., Case No. NC052959.
DISCUSSION
This suit arises out of a City vehicle running over plaintiff's foot while he was sunbathing on the beach, resulting in ongoing injuries which impacted his ability to perform his occupation of a girls' softball coach.
Two settlement conferences were held before the trial judge. The parties were ultimately able to reach a tentative settlement agreement of $40,000.00, subject to City Council approval.
The Economic Development and Finance Committee approved the proposed settlement on August 3, 2010.
