TITLE

DISCUSSION
The infrastructure of 2nd Street from Bayshore Avenue to Pacific Coast Highway is in need of rehabilitation. The rehabilitation work will consist of replacing damaged curbs and gutters, driveways, bus pads, alley entrances, and sidewalks; reconstructing areas of deteriorated pavement; and removing old asphalt and resurfacing the street with rubberized asphalt, and installing required accessibility improvements, installing median electrical system, installing traffic signal interconnect system, new pavement markings, traffic striping, and vehicle loop detectors at signalized intersections. A vicinity map of the area is attached as Exhibit A.

In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act, Categorical Exemption No.ยท CE-28-09 has been issued for this project.

City Council's adoption of the plans and specifications and award of the contract to the lowest responsible bidder are being recommended concurrently in order to expedite implementation of this project. The project was advertised for bids on March 31,2010, 2010, and bids were opened on April 21, 2010.
