DISCUSSION
City Council approval is being requested to enter into contracts between the Departments of Public Works, Water and Harbor with Danny's Auto Painting and Laszlo's Sports Car Center, Inc., to furnish and deliver light, medium and heavy-duty autobody repair services. The City prefers two contractors to ensure timely repairs at a reasonable cost.

Based on expenditures from prior years, the annual proposed contracts are estimated to total $615,000. Historically, expenditures for light/medium-duty repairs have averaged $500,000 and $115,000 for heavy-duty repairs. Previous autobody contracts did not include heavy-duty repair specifications. Historically, the Fleet Services Bureau bid heavy-duty repairs separately, per vehicle, on an as-needed basis. The City's heavy-duty fleet is comprised of 175 units, which include refuse trucks, fire apparatus and street sweepers. The inclusion of light, medium and heavy-duty repair specifications, and related costs, will streamline the process of service delivery. The Purchasing Division worked with the Fleet Services Bureau to develop a comprehensive bid that encompassed all autobody needs.
