TITLE
Recommendation to adopt resolution designating the ballot listing of the candidates which have been nominated for the City's Primary Nominating Election, April 13, 2010.
DISCUSSION
On December 8, 2009, the City Council adopted a resolution calling and giving notice of the Primary Nominating Election.
With the close of the candidate nomination period on January 15, 2010, the City Clerk is required to submit the attached resolution for adoption pursuant to City Charter Section 1907 which serves to certify list of candidates who were duly nominated, as well as the order in which their names will appear on the official ballot.
Also included in the recommended resolution is a listing of candidates for contests in the Long Beach Unified School District and the Long Beach Community College District as certified by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. Candidates for the foregoing contests are listed in the order in which they will appear on the official ballot.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
Approval of the recommended action at this time will allow the City Clerk Department to prepare the official ballot, sample ballot and ballot pamphlet.
FISCAL IMPACT
The City Clerk Department budget contains the appropriations necessary for conduct of the April 13, 2010, Primary Nominating Election.
