TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $1,500, offset by the Fifth Council District One-Time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a donation to:
· $1,000 to Care Closet LBC to support their ongoing operations to
assist and provide opportunities for people experiencing
homelessness;
· $500 to Wild West Women, Inc., in support of the Women’s Fair;
and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $1,500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
Councilwoman Megan Kerr would like to support the following organizations:
· Care Closet LBC, a local organization that provides assistance to people experiencing homelessness. The transfer of these One-time District Priority Funds will help to support their ongoing mission.
· The Wild West Women, Inc/Long Beach Suffrage 100 is an active organization that helps educate our community on the history of suffrage in the United States. To commemorate the first proposal of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), 100 years ago, the Long Beach Suffrage 100 will be hosting a Women’s Fair on July 18th, 2023, at the Long Beach City Hall Plaza. The transfer of these One-time District Priority Funds will help to support the event and ongoing mission.

FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide contributions of $1,000 to Care Closet LBC and $500 to Wild West Women, Inc., to support their mission and event as written above.
