TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $1,000, offset by the Sixth Council District One-Time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a donation to Partners of Parks to support the Long Beach Hoops After Dark; and
Decrease appropriations of the Sixth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $1,000 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
Partners of Parks is supporting the Long Beach Hoops After Dark 2022-2023 Winter League. Hoops After Dark is a program in Long Beach that provides a safe environment for area youth to develop athletic and leadership skills in conjunction with educational workshops. Mentorship and career counseling are additional areas of the focus contained within the workshops. Partners of Parks is the Long Beach non-profit that helps subsidize park programming and activities and supports neighborhood groups who fund and host events in Long Beach parks. The organization supports the Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine Department by working with donors to fund new tree plantings, new amenities, and new programming benefitting teens, seniors and families-in-need. Contributions to Partners of Park will go towards providing materials and resources for players.

This urgent item is being submitted through supplemental agenda to allow for timely funds processing.
FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to Partners of Parks to support the Long Beach Hoops After Dark 2022-2023 Winter League. The total appropriation increase of $1,000 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of the Sixth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department.
