TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $500, offset by the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to the Long Beach Firemens Historical Society in support of the Long Beach Fire Museum; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade is scheduled for Saturday, January 14, 2023. The Long Beach Fire Museum traditionally partakes in the parade by showcasing antique fire apparatus in the parade line-up. A $500 contribution to the Long Beach Firemens Historical Society will support the ability for the Fire Museum to continue this tradition with one fire rig.

No Financial Management review was able to be conducted due to the urgency and time sensitivity of this item.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

Approval of this item is requested on January 10, 2023 as the parade is scheduled for Saturday, January 14, 2023 (prior to the next regularly scheduled City Council meeting).

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to the Long Beach Firemens Historical Society. The total appropriation increase of $500 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease in appropriation of the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff time beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

DARYL SUPERNAW, COUNCILMAN
