DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to amend Contract No. 34946 with Axon Enterprise, Inc., to purchase additional Body Worn Camera (BWC) equipment, related accessories, supporting software, and digital video storage for the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

In April 2018, LBPD issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for body worn camera equipment and technology to be provided at no cost to the City of Long Beach (City) for a one-year trial period. On May 15, 2018, City Council approved adopting Specifications No. RFP PD18-090 and awarding a contract Axon Enterprise, Inc., to furnish and deliver body worn camera equipment, accessories, and software support for the no cost one-year trial period. In August 2018, LBPD received approximately 250 body worn camera units and deployed this technology to the North and South Patrol Divisions. At the end of the one-year trial period, LBPD issued a memo to the City Council on its recommendation to implement BWC technology in the remaining Patrol Divisions, to field investigative personnel, and sworn personnel assigned to service contract groups.
