TITLE
Recommendation to adopt resolutions declaring the results of the General Municipal Election held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. (Citywide)

DISCUSSION
The following Resolutions have been prepared by the City Attorney pertaining to the results of the General Municipal Election held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. The Resolutions are attached as Exhibit A.

· A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Long Beach declaring the results of the General Municipal Election held in the City of Long Beach, California, on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, for the purpose of electing a Mayor, Members of the City Council from the Third, Fifth, and Ninth Council Districts, and Long Beach Unified School District Governing Board Member, District 1; and directing the City Clerk to issue a Certificate of Election to the candidates declared to have been elected at the General Municipal Election.

· A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Long Beach declaring the results of the General Municipal Election held in the City of Long Beach, California, on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, to submit a vote of the qualified electors of the City’s Four Charter Amendment Ballot Measures.

The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s Certificate of the canvass of the Election Returns and Statement of Votes Cast, attached as Exhibit B, provides the number of votes by precinct.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy Attorney Taylor Anderson on December 1, 2022 and by Budget Operations and Development Officer Rhutu Amin Gharib on December 4, 2022.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
Approval of the recommended action on December 13, 2022 will meet the provisions of California Elections Code Sections 10262, 10263 and 10264, and Long Beach Charter Section 200, which establishes the start of each Council Member term as commencing on the third Tuesday of December following the date of the election.
