TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $500, offset by the First Council District One-time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department, to provide a donation to the Willmore City Heritage Association in support of the annual Winter in Willmore event at Drake Park; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

The Willmore City Heritage Association is a strong and active organization in the First District. They are a vital source of community and engagement in our City. Their efforts help community spaces stay active and thus, safer as well. Every year they host the annual Winter in Willmore event at Drake Park, which brings much joy to children, seniors, and families during this holiday season.

This contribution will help continue this annual celebration, activate a local park, and provide a stronger sense of community and holiday joy to first district residents and all that attend.

This matter has been reviewed by Budget Analyst Joe R. Guerrero on November 29, 2022.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

As this event is scheduled for December 10, 2022, the processing of funding is of an urgent matter.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to the Willmore City Heritage Association in support of the Winter in Willmore event at Drake Park. The total appropriation increase of $500 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of First Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. The requested action is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the normal budgeted scope of duties and expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

MARY ZENDEJAS, COUNCILWOMAN
