TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Public Works Department by $75,000, offset by the Fifth Council District One-Time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide funding for alleyway projects; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $75,000 to offset a transfer to the Public Works Department.

DISCUSSION

The Infrastructure Investment Plan crafted during the creation of Measure A has allowed for more street repair than ever before; however, deteriorated and unsafe alleyways remain a major topic of discussion in the Fifth District.

Infrastructure improvements to damaged and neglected alleyways can make a difference to a neighborhood, whether it prevents costly damage to their car, or addresses draining issues that currently result in flooding to nearby garages.

This supplemental funding will allow Public Works to fill a gap in funding needed to address an alleyway in the Fifth District near Clark Ave and Conant St. during the next fiscal year and complete the project prior to September 30, 2023.
