TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $215, offset by the First Council District One-time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department, to provide a donation to The LGBTQ Center Long Beach in support of the Transgender Day of Remembrance event at Harvey Milk Plaza; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $215 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
The LGBTQ Center Long Beach works to bring about equity for LGBTQ people in all areas of life. They are a fierce support organization that highly contributes to the advancement of our City’s vision of inclusivity, sustainability, and equity for all.
On this Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honor the lives of those we have lost to hate and violence at our Harvey Milk Plaza, which continues to serve as a symbol of love and pride in Long Beach. It is important for our city to support these efforts as they align with the values of a truly equitable city.
This matter has been reviewed by Budget Analyst Joe R. Guerrero on November 28, 2022.
FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to The LGBTQ Center Long Beach in support of the Transgender Day of Remembrance event at Harvey Milk Plaza. The total appropriation increase of $215 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of First Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. The requested action is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the normal budgeted scope of duties and expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
