DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract with Quality Fence Co. Inc., for the furnishing and delivering of permanent and temporary fencing services. The award represents the combined annual requirements as estimated by various City of Long Beach (City) departments, including Airport, Development Services, Fire, Financial Management/Fleet Services, Energy Resources, Harbor, Library Services, Police, Parks, Recreation and Marine, Public Works, and Water departments. Authorizing multiple contracts will ensure that City departments are able to receive service for repairs and large-scale fencing projects in a timely manner. This service will help protect City facilities and properties against trespassing.

The bid was advertised in the Long Beach Press-Telegram on September 2, 2022, and 20 potential bidders specializing in fencing were notified of the bid opportunity. Of those bidders, three downloaded the bid via the City’s electronic bid system. The bid document was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the sixth floor of City Hall, and the Division’s website at www.longbeach.gov/purchasing . A bid announcement was also included in the Purchasing Division’s weekly update of Open Bid Opportunities, which is sent to 39 local, minority-owned, and women-owned business groups.
