TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by  $500, offset by the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to AbilityFirst for their Rainbows event; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

AbilityFirst provides a variety of programs designed to help people with disabilities achieve their personal best throughout their lives. They create targeted programming to help an individual successfully transition from childhood to adult life. On Saturday, October 15, 2022, AbilityFirst will be hosting its Rainbows event. A contribution towards the event will assist the organization in funding program supplies and community activities for Long Beach residents in need of the additional support AbilityFirst provides.

This item was reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on September 26, 2022.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to the AbilityFirst for their Rainbows event. The total appropriation increase of $500 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease in appropriation of the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff time beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION
