DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to amend the Contract Nos. 34486, 34487, 34489, 34490, 34492, and 34493, for as-needed construction materials testing and inspection services, to extend the term of the contracts to December 31, 2023.

On December 20, 2016, the City Council adopted Specifications No. RFQ PW16-138 and awarded contracts to six selected consultants, in a total aggregate amount of $36,000,000, for a term of three years, with the option to renew for two additional one-year periods. These firms provide as-needed consultant services for current and anticipated projects within various City of Long Beach (City) Departments, including Public Works, Development Services, Long Beach Airport, Energy Resources, Parks, Recreation and Marine, and Water.

On August 3, 2021, the City Council approved a one-year extension to December 31, 2022 for the six contracts, for the total aggregate amount of $36,000,000.

The current contracts expire on December 31, 2022, and City has exhausted all permitted contract extensions. The procurement process for on-call construction materials testing and inspection services is underway and City staff aim to complete the process by September 30, 2023.
