TITLE

Recommendation to authorize Development Services Department to process two refunds totaling $20,719 for withdrawn planning applications.  (Districts 6,9)

 

DISCUSSION

In accordance with the City’s Master Fees and Charges Schedule, applicants pay fees to the Development Services Fund Group for plan check services and surcharges related to the preparation of Conditional Use Permit (CUP) entitlements. In the event applications are withdrawn and services are not provided, a refund is processed. In this case, both applicants have withdrawn their CUP applications and are entitled to refunds.

 

In accordance with Long Beach Municipal Code Section 3.48.040, which requires refunds exceeding $10,000 be approved by the City Attorney and City Council, approval to issue refunds is requested on behalf of the applicants in the amounts below:

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

City Council action is requested on October 11, 2022, to expedite processing the refunds.

 

FISCAL IMPACT

The approval of this recommendation will result in refunds totaling $20,719 from the Development Services Fund Group in the Development Services Department. This recommendation has no staffing impacts beyond the normal budgeted scope of duties and is consistent with existing City Council priorities. There is no local job impact associated with this recommendation.
