DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into contracts with Ferguson Enterprises, LLC, and Independent Utility Supply, for furnishing and delivering polyethylene (PE) pipe and fittings on an as-needed basis.

Long Beach Energy Resources (ER) and its contractors are responsible for the repair, maintenance, and construction of the City of Long Beach’s (City) natural gas pipeline system, which is necessary for the safe and efficient delivery of natural gas to ER customers in Long Beach and Signal Hill.

The bid was advertised in the Long Beach Press-Telegram on February 3, 2022, and 287 potential bidders specializing in natural gas parts and construction services were notified of the bid opportunity. Of those bidders, 19 downloaded the bid via the City’s electronic bid system. The bid document was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the sixth floor of City Hall, and the Division’s website at www.longbeach.gov/purchasing . A bid announcement was also included in the Purchasing Division’s weekly update of Open Bid Opportunities, which is sent to 42 local, minority-owned, and women-owned business groups.
