DISCUSSION
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Since 1984, communities across the United States of America have gathered to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while building a sense of community. Neighborhoods across the nation host events such as block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts, and many other community events. These events have grown the relationships between members of the community and police for years and continue to be wonderful events for communities across the nation.
On Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022, the Craftsman Village Historic District hosted a National Night Out event at Craftsman Village Park, in which community members met with Long Beach Police Officers to build a stronger relationship. Residents were able to talk to local officers, eat food, and enjoy Craftsman Village Park with their neighbors. This event was made possible by the work of Jamie Nichols who was the official permittee with Long Beach Parks, Recreation, and Marine, and purchased the liability policy for the event on behalf of the Craftsman Village Historic District. The $340 will go to reimburse Jamie Nichols for her costs. It is appropriate for the City Council to support Jamie Nichols for Craftsman Village Historic District National Night Out 2022.
