TITLE
Recommendation to request City Manager to take appropriate steps to evaluate a Project Labor Agreement for the Long Beach Airport Terminal Improvement Project and report back to the City Council in sixty (60) days.

DISCUSSION
Across our region, Construction Project Labor Agreements (PLAs) have been implemented in an effort to better identify total construction project costs and ensure on-time construction project completion.  PLAs have recently been entered into for several large-scale projects throughout Southern California.  The Port of Long Beach recently entered into a PLA for its upcoming Middle Harbor Redevelopment Project.

The Long Beach Airport will soon begin work on a large-scale Terminal Improvement Project, aimed at improving the experience of LGB for travelers.  It is appropriate at this time immediately initiate the necessary steps to evaluate a PLA for this upcoming construction project.

SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

Councilmember Patrick O'Donnell, Fourth District
Councilmember Tonia Reyes Uranga, Seventh District
