DISCUSSION

Developing Future Leaders (DFL) is an organization of professionals made up of lawyers, doctors, teachers, and nurses who have joined together to bring positive changes to the community through education, healthcare, and afterschool programs. For over a decade, DFL has hosted fundraisers to purchase school supplies to support school staff and youth in the community. On September 10, 2022, DFL will host a backpack giveaway event at Burnette Library (560 E Hill Street) to provide school supplies to youth.

STATEMENT OF URGENCY

This urgent item is being submitted through supplemental agenda to allow for timely funds processing.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide funds to support Developing Future Leaders. The total appropriation increase of $500 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of Sixth Council District One-Time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and have a minimal impact on City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

SUELY SARO COUNCILWOMAN,
