TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $200, offset by the Seventh Council District One-Time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to Friends of the Long Beach Public Library in the amount of $200 to support their Celebrate our Librarians event on August 26, 2022; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $200 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

The Long Beach Public Library Foundation and the Friends of the Public Library are hosting the 2022 Celebrate our Librarians event. The Long Beach Public Library is a nationally recognized institution making a difference in the lives of countless individuals through the hard work and creativity of amazing librarians.

This item has been reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on August 10, 2022.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution of $200 to the Friends of the Long Beach Public Library to support their event as written above. The total appropriation increase in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department in the amount of $200 is offset by a decrease of appropriation of Seventh Council District One-Time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. Implementing this recommendation is anticipated to result in a minimal impact to staff hours beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

ROBERTO URANGA COUNCILMEMBER,
