DISCUSSION
The City of Long Beach is requesting authorization to collect delinquency charges for weed removal and incidental enforcement costs as allowed from the responsible property owners through their property tax bills for abated properties from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022.

Upon approval by the City Council, the Financial Management Department will forward the authorizing Resolution, and the prescribed reporting forms, to the Los Angeles County Auditor-Controller, Tax Division, for incorporation into the 2022-2023 County Secured Tax Roll.

These code enforcement delinquency charges are to be placed on the 2022-2023 County tax roll, for two properties included in the exhibit of the Resolution for an amount not to exceed $16,285. All delinquent charges relate to the Code Enforcement Bureau in the Development Services Department as determined by Code Enforcement.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Arturo D. Sanchez on August 5, 2022 and by Revenue Management Officer Geraldine Alejo on August 3, 2022.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action is requested on August 23, 2022, as the Los Angeles County Auditor Controller provided an extension of the authorized lien assessment.
