DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract with J.L.M. Installations, Inc. (J.L.M.), for the purpose of replacement and installation of beach restroom doors and frames. J.L.M. will also provide the labor necessary to demolish the existing doors and replace them with new reinforced doors with the added benefit of security and preventative maintenance for the Parks, Recreation, and Marine Department.

The restrooms along the beaches require specially fabricated hollow metal-work doors to reinforce them from continuous destruction caused by vandalism. The Parks, Recreation, and Marine Department, Marine Maintenance Division receives routine calls to address vandalism issues at its beach restrooms several times per week throughout the year, and even more frequently during the summer months.

The bid was advertised in the Long Beach Press-Telegram on March 24, 2022, and 294 potential bidders specializing in beach restroom doors were notified of the bid opportunity. Of those bidders, 12 downloaded the bid via the City’s electronic bid system.
