DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract with Mike Thompson Recreational Vehicles, to purchase a 22-foot, Class C recreational vehicle for use by the Health and Human Services Department, Homeless Services Bureau as a Mobile Outreach Station. Funding for this unit comes from the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Federal Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), funded by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act (ESG-CV). This Mobile Outreach Station will be used to provide services to people experiencing homelessness in Long Beach. The unit will be staffed with a registered nurse, case managers, and health educators who will provide shelter and housing referrals, social service registration, mental health services and medical screenings, as well as COVID-19 vaccines.

The bid was advertised in the Long Beach Press-Telegram on February 24, 2022, and 19 potential bidders specializing in sales and delivery of recreational vehicles were notified of the bid opportunity. After no bids were received, the specification was rebid on March 22, 2022. Of those bidders, 2 downloaded the bid via the City’s electronic bid system. The bid document was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the 6th floor of City Hall, and the Division’s website at www.longbeach.gov/purchasing .
