TITLE

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $1,500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

INTRODUCTION:

In an effort to continue supporting our essential business corridors as well as the importance of building community and tourism to the region through events, this financial contribution to the Belmont Shore Business Association is beneficial to the City. Long Beach is a city that benefits from tourism and this event will be a major draw regionally this holiday season.

This matter was reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on November 12, 2021.

STATEMENT OF URGENCY:

Funding is sought prior to the event which is being held December 4, 2021.

FISCAL IMPACT

The recommendation requests the City Manager Department to provide a donation to the Belmont Shore Business Association for their Belmont Shore Winter Village event.  The total appropriation increase in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $1,500 is offset by a decrease of appropriation of Third Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department.  The requested action is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.
