DISCUSSION
The Expo Arts Center is a community arts hub for Uptown Long Beach and the entire city. It regularly features art exhibits, theater productions, comedy shows, community meetings and events.

It also serves as the home of the Senior Activities at the Expo, providing free exercise, arts and social programs for seniors throughout the community. The Senior Activities at the Expo were originally established by the Eight District Senior Advisory Council with the support of my office, and are now operated on an ongoing basis three days a week by the Parks, Recreation and Marine Department.

The City has an operating agreement with the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association for the management of this city-owned venue. The Expo also serves as the location for the Eighth Council District Field Office. As such, my office has consistently supported the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association to facilitate the ongoing programming and events at the Expo Arts Center, and I am requesting the City Council’s approval to continue supporting this important community resource.
