TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $500, offset by the Seventh Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a donation to Historical Society of Long Beach in the amount of $500 to support their 2021 Cemetery Tour on Saturday, October 30, 2021; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

Councilmember Roberto Uranga would like to support the Historical Society of Long Beach (https://hslb.org) annual event, the 25th Annual Historical Cemetery Tour, held on October 30, 2021. Beginning in 1995, the Historical Society of Long Beach has conducted an annual living history tour at the city’s two oldest cemeteries, Long Beach Municipal Cemetery and Sunnyside Cemetery. This event supports the historical preservation and collection of Long Beach living history.

This matter has been reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on September 9, 2021.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager Department to provide a donation to the Historical Society of Long Beach to support their annual event as written above. The total appropriation increase of $500 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of the Seventh Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. The recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

ROBERTO URANGA COUNCILMEMBER,

SEVENTH DISTRICT
