TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $250, offset by the Fourth Council District one-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to the Friends of the Long Beach Public Library for their Celebrate Our Librarians event; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $250 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

The Long Beach Public Library Foundation and the Friends of the Long Beach Public Library are hosting the 2021 Celebrate Our Librarians event on Friday, October 15th. The Long Beach Public Library would not be a nationally recognized institution making a difference in the lives of countless individuals through Long Beach without the hard work and creativity of the amazing librarians.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager Department to provide a contribution to Friends of the Long Beach Public Library for their Celebrate Our Librarians event. The total appropriation to increase in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department in the amount of $250 is offset by a decrease of appropriation of Fourth Council District one-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. Completing this work is anticipated to result in a minimal impact to staff hours beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and a minimal impact on City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.
