TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager to execute a Second Amendment to Agreement No. 35824, with the law firm Best, Best & Krieger, LLP, to increase the amount by $100,000 for legal services in connection with litigation of City of Long Beach v. Jayantibhai Patel, et al., Los Angeles Superior Court Case No. 18LBCV00013, including multiple appeals.
DISCUSSION
The City Attorney requests the City Council to authorize the City Manager to execute a Second Amendment to Agreement No. 35824, with the law firm of Best, Best & Krieger, LLP, for legal services to represent the City of Long Beach in connection with the multi-year, nuisance abatement litigation (including multiple appeals) entitled City of Long Beach v. Jayantibhai Patel, et al., Los Angeles Superior Court Case No. 18LBCV00013. This amendment authorizes an additional $100,000 in litigation expenses, for a total of $700,000.
