TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $400, offset by the Fourth Council District one-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to the Historical Society of Long Beach for their annual Cemetery Tour; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $400 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION
On the last Saturday of October, the Historical Society of Long Beach hosts an exciting cemetery tour in some of the city’s oldest cemeteries. This one-of-a-kind living history celebration attracts 1,250 people and engages the support of more than 95 volunteers, city agencies, community and regional leaders. The event provides an amazing opportunity to remember the role ordinary people play in local, national, and world events. Costumed actors bear witness to the lives of well-known and lesser-known figures in Long Beach history. Visitors enjoy the performances, historical displays, and a lovely day in a unique, park-like setting. Using historical documents, photographs, artifacts, and oral and written stories they create exhibitions and public programs that connect people to the past and to the place they live.

FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager Department to provide a contribution to the Historical Society of Long Beach for their annual Cemetery Tour. The total appropriation increase of $400 in the General Fund Group in the City Management Department will be offset by a decrease in appropriation of the Fourth Council District one-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund in the Citywide Activities Department. Completing this work is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff time beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
