TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay sum of $142,500, in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Brad M. Klipper v. City of Long Beach, et al., Los Angeles Superior Court Case No. BC651553.
DISCUSSION
Plaintiff Brad Klipper and Long Beach Police Officer Jose Rios were involved in an automobile collision on January 22, 2016, at the intersection of Santa Fe Ave. and Pacific Coast Highway. Plaintiff alleges that the City and Officer Rios are liable for Plaintiffs injuries and damages.
Following extensive negotiations, Plaintiff agreed to accept $142,500.00 -inclusive of attorneys' fees and costs - as a full, global settlement of this case.
The settlement was discussed in closed session, and approved, by the Government, Personnel and Elections Oversight Committee on August 17, 2021.
