TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $500, offset by the Second Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a donation to California Families in Focus for the First Annual Trans Pride; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION
The City of Long Beach prides itself on uplifting each community in the City and celebrating our diversity. Long Beach Trans Pride will celebrate their first annual event on Saturday, September 18, 2021 and a contribution of funds will assist in uplifting the visibility of the event for both residents and visitors. From the organizers, "The First Annual Trans Pride Long Beach 2021 will provide accessibility, visibility, and equity for the trans community."

This contribution provides funding for a promotion event that calls attention to the City of Long Beach's openness, positivity, acceptance, and welcoming culture for residents and visitors. Furthermore, uplifting our Trans and Nonbinary communities will help normalize and empower residents.

Residents are encouraged to join in the celebration on Saturday, September 18 at Recreation Park.

FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager Department to provide a donation to California Families in Focus for their First Annual Trans Parade. The total appropriation increase in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $500 is offset by a decrease of appropriation of Second Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department.
