TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $2500, offset by the First Council District One-time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a donation to SheTech on behalf of DemoChicks; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $2,500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
DemoChicks empowers young women and girls who represent diversity in age, country of origin, industry sector, and education level. We also aim to specifically engage girls and women of color who are drastically underrepresented in STEM and ACE fields. As a sponsor, we recognize and care as a about the well-being of this community and the expansion of DemoChick’s Signature Programs to broaden their reach to more girls and women. The fundraiser dinner will provide our community the unique opportunity to increase DemoChick’s organizational visibility and mission with an audience comprised of girls and women, and the people who are invested in their growth. This donation is to help offset some cost associate with the event and further support the mission of DemoChicks and SheTech.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
Donation to Breaking Barriers Awards Anniversary Celebration and Awards Dinner, and in support SheTech and the DemoChicks scheduled for August 28th, 2021.
FISCAL IMPACT
This fund transfer does not represent a significant impact on staff’s time outside of their normal course of work.
