TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the Special Advertising and Promotions Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $416, offset by the Third Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a donation to the Long Beach Camerata Singers for their September 11th Remembered Concert; and
Decrease appropriations in the Special Advertising and Promotions Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $416 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
The Long Beach Camerata Singers is hosting an event at Marine Stadium Park on September 11, 2021 beginning at 5:30 PM. The event is in remembrance of the September 11, 2001 tragedy and recognizing the twenty-year anniversary. In addition to commemorating this national tragedy, this event highlights the City’s beautiful parks and coastline, as well as our pleasant summer climate. In recognition of the significant impact this event had on Long Beach residents and people all across the country, as well as the role this event will have in highlighting natural advantages, facilities, and the climate of Long Beach, it is appropriate for the City Council to support the Camerata Singers 9/11 Remembered concert as it provides beautiful music, comforting poetry, and hope.
As part of the Adopted FY 20 Budget, the City Council allocated $235,000 of Special Advertising and Promotions Fund Group (SAP) funds available to be divided equally between the City Council Districts to be used towards SAP-qualified special events or contributions, managed by the Office of Special Events and Filming in the City Manager Department. This recommendation is requesting that $416 of the Third Council District One-time SAP District Priority Funds be allocated for this special event.
