TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $2,500, offset by the First Council District One-time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to the LGBTQ+ Center Long Beach; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $2,500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION
The LGBTQ+ Center Long Beach has a long history of serving the community. One event that helped to continue that tradition and bring community together while raising funds, was the Movie in the Park event on June 26, 2021 at the Harvey Milk Park. This event was scheduled to be part of the Harvey Milk Day observance, but was moved to better facilitate the event and allow for more people to enjoy safely after the June 15 reopening. This donation is to help offset some costs associated with the event and further support the mission of the LGBTQ+ Center Long Beach.

This item was reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on June 26, 2021.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
The Movie in the Park event at the Harvey Milk Park occurred on June 26, 2021.

FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to LGBTQ+ Center Long Beach to support the Movie in the Park event at Harvey Milk Park. The total appropriation increase in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $2,500 will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of the First Council District General Fund Group One-time District Priority Funds in the Citywide Activities Department. Implementing this recommendation is expected to have a minimal impact on staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.
