DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract with West Coast Arborists, Inc., for tree trimming and related services.

The Public Works Department (PW) is responsible for Citywide tree trimming and maintenance of the urban forest in the public rights-of-way and other City-maintained properties, excluding parks, beach areas, and marinas. The contract is used for the annual grid trimming, stump grinding, tree removal, and as-needed emergency response tree services. The contract will also be used for the Residential Street Improvements Program, the ADA Accessibility Programs, and other Capital Improvement projects for as-needed tree services prior to the start of street improvement and sidewalk repair work.

The Request for Proposals (RFP) was advertised in the Long Beach Press-Telegram on December 21, 2020, and 1,254 potential proposers specializing in tree trimming services were notified of the RFP opportunity. Of those proposers, 36 downloaded the RFP via the City's electronic bid system. The RFP document was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the sixth floor of City Hall, and the Division’s website at www.longbeach.gov/purchasing .
