Christine Bos

 

Christine is a 7th Council District resident and is the Government Affairs Manager for the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. Previously, Christine was a senior administrative officer with the United States Department of State in the Office of Foreign Missions. In this role she maintained relationships with various federal agencies and municipal offices to facilitate information exchange. Christine also served as a recreation specialist with the City of Long Beach.

 

Board of Health and Human Services

 

Dr. Sabrina Sanders

 

Sabrina is a resident of Council District 9 and currently serves as the Director of Student Affairs Projects & Initiatives at the California State University, Office of the Chancellor where her work focuses on increasing completion rates and eliminating equity gaps to ensure that all students have access to the opportunities provided by a high-quality degree. Sabrina previously served on The Long Beach Community Investment Company Board of Directors.

 

Citizens' Advisory Committee on Disabilities

 

Jeremy Hill

 

Jeremy is a native of Long Beach and resides in Council District 9. He is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach and serves on the California Commission of the Blind. As an individual who is also blind, Jeremy will assist the City of Long Beach on ensuring policies are more inclusive of all members of the community it serves.

 

Homeless Services Advisory Commission

 

Sylvia Guerrero

 

Sylvia resides in Council District 9 and is a Health Program Analyst for the Los Angeles Department of Mental Health. In this role, she is responsible for monitoring mental health agencies' finances and service delivery by drafting internal policies for program staff through collaborating with various agencies and residential facilities. She has also served as a Patients' Rights Office Advocate for the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health where she earned a reputation for being a fair and ethical investigator. Additionally, Sylvia holds a Master of Public Administration from California State University, Northridge, and an undergraduate degree in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach.

 

Human Relations Commission

 

Dr. Trace Camacho

 

Trace is a Council District 1 resident and serves as the Director of Student Life and Development at California State University, Long Beach. In this role he develops inclusive trainings for over 1500 student organizations leaders and advisors to foster collaboration and student engagement across campus. Trace has devoted his career to higher education and holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education.

 

Jon Schultz

 

Jon resides in Council District 5 and is a 20-year resident of Long Beach who owns and operates a Ford Mustang Lifestyle business. He is an active member of the community, and has served as a Board Member of FoodFinders and helped with the completion of Long Beach's first inclusive playground at Carver Elementary School.

 

Christopher Covington

 

Christopher is a resident of Council District 6 and serves as the Statewide Youth Leadership Specialist for the Genders and Sexualities Alliance Network, a next-generation LGBTQ+ racial and gender justice organization that empowers and trains queer, trans and allied youth leaders to advocate, organize, and mobilize for healthier communities.

 

Mary Ellen Mitchell

 

Mary Ellen is a Council District 5 resident and was born and raised in Long Beach. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Women Shelter of Long Beach, a nonprofit agency providing supportive services to victims of domestic violence and their children. She believes are residents of Long Beach need to be represented equally and treated fairly.

Suny Lay Chang

 

Suny is a resident of Council District 8 and is the Chief Operating Officer of Linc Housing, an affordable housing provider in Long Beach. She has 20 years of professional experience in affordable housing, community development, and strategic management. Her career has been driven by her passion for economic development and poverty alleviation, leading to her working on affordable housing. Suny sees affordable housing as a powerful catalyst to build communities and neighborhoods, as well as a vehicle for economic growth for families and local economies.

 

Mary Castro

 

Mary resides in Council District 1 and has a substantive career in public service including working for all levels of government and an array of roles at public educational institutions across California. Her dedication to students has been recognized by the United Way and her service includes the creation and expansion of a food pantry for college students in need and fundraising for many causes.

 

Long Beach Transit Board of Directors

 

Abigail Mejia

 

Abigail is a resident of Council District 1 and currently serves as District Director to California State Senator Lena Gonzalez. She is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach and has been an active member and advocate for the Long Beach community for many years. Abigail is currently President of the Democratic Women's Study Club of Long Beach, and serves as Women's Committee Chair for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers union (lAM). Additionally, she is a Board Member of the Long Beach Immigrant Rights Coalition and serves on several other community boards in the city.

 

Sustainable City Commission

 

Keisha Gaines

 

Keisha is a Council District 4 resident and currently serves an Environmental Science Advisor for Southern California Edison (SCE). In this role she manages water, air, and hazardous waste compliance for over 85 SCE facilities. She holds several certifications and previously worked for the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District as an air quality inspector.
